A cup full of herbs
MANUBA collection GDD 2019
A cup full of herbs
A handmade set designed especially for brewing herbal teas. The set consists of a ceramic cup with a lid and reusable bag for herbal infusions. The cup and lid were slip cast. The key element of slip casting is timing, which strongly relates to tea rituals. The production process cannot be rushed or forced and this is the premise for how these items should be used.
The small protrusion on the edge of the cup was designed to hook the teabag string to prevent it from falling inside. It is also a detail that is pleasant to touch and rest your fingers on whilst you are holding the cup. The cup and lid have been glazed only on the inside, leaving the outside raw to emphasise the gradual colouring of stoneware.
